I shadowed a tattoo artist for a day — and then eventually got a tattoo to immerse myself in the project. The goal was to create something that was both useful and original.
My process blended an anthro mindset with design thinking tactics.
INK SESSION & field research
The key finding was how many times John (tattoo artist) changed his gloves out for fresh ones: about 10 times during a 1.5 hour session. It took him about 30-40 seconds each time and he sees about 3-4 clients daily.
A glove “mechanism” that reduces the time spent putting on gloves while also decreasing potential contamination. Some design considerations : hand sizes, multi-context(s), function, & scaleability.
refinEment & CONclusion
Many industries can benefit from a “glove application solution” that is efficient, in both time and cost.
